So I want to talk about something really cool in Smart View, Attributes. Everyone knows by now that we can manage dimensions in Smart View as long as you have the planning admin extension installed, but not many people know you can also manage attributes. There are really 2 parts to this, this first is that you can manage the attribute dimensions them self, see here:
As you can see, all of my attribute dimensions are listed here, i can open them, and even add members to those dimensions just like you can with standard dimensions
But that's not the part I want to focus on. You can also associate members with attributes directly in Smart View!
To do this, you just need to open the standard dimension that you want to work with.
The column headers on this screen are can be added and removed, I'll note more on that in another post, but its key to know in order to work with attributes. So lets add a couple new headers, our attribute dimensions, just type them in and hit 'Refresh'
Amazing, we can now edit these just like any other property of the member. At this point the only thing that would make it better, is if there was a drop down to choose our members... oh wait, what is that? it's already there!
That's all there is to it, just make your changes, submit, refresh the database and call it a day.
I hope this helps you, if not, well I kept this post short as not to waste too much of your time!
Oh, I almost forgot, one last note, I tested this in PBCS and 11.1.2.4, it only worked in my PBCS test, but my 11.1.2.4 test environment is not updated with the latest patches, so I can't say for sure if it will work or not on-prem with the latest patch.

Did it ever work on-prem?
