I think this is going to be a quick one, but it came as a surprise to me, so I wanted to share it with you, yes you, the one reading this, no one else.. but they can read it to, then they are 'you' and now not you.. where does it end? anyway, back on topic!
For years, when you open a Form in Smart View, it would make the excel sheet protected. This prevented us from having freeze panes enabled, pasting values over a large range of read only cells, turning on data filters, or one of 100 other things. Well Oracle has listened, and you can now disable this on your Forms.
I admit, I can't figure out what release this was added, as far as I can tell it goes back to at least Nov-2021, but I didn't see it, so I assume other missed it to.
To do this, its as easy as 1-2-3 go to your favorite Form Editor (I'm a classic guy myself)
- Select Layout
- Look on the right for Smart View Options
- Check the box for Disable Sheet Protection
Don't forget to click save!
Once you are done, go ahead and open your form back up in Smart View so you can enjoy your new found freedom! Apply a freeze pane, then refresh the form, bask in the glory of it still being fixed the way you set it after refresh.
It might be hard to tell by a still screen shot, but I swear I refreshed this sheet after i enabled freeze pane.
It is worth noting that if you use Flex Forms, they are also unprotected, but sometimes that's not exactly a good option, especially if you are not using Flex features.
