So after hearing how great Forms 2.0 will be over the last couple 'years' we finally get some hands on time! I will hit the spoiler right up front and say Yes, Forms 2.0 is 'all that' but let me quantify a few specific features that make that true.
Improved performance
- Yes, everything oracle has told us about performance seems to be true
- Loading, Entering Data, and Scroll all work faster
Smart Lists actually make sense
Look at these 2 screen shots and just ask yourself, which of these makes more sense?
The top screen shot is what everyone is familiar with already, click a drop down, and watch it load in some random place on the screen. Not only does this make no sense, but its also super slow! The second screen shot is much better, it's loaded to the right place, and its FAST!
Member selectors that work!
This one is a little more involved, but it should be really obvious to anyone who has used web forms in the past. I'm going to skip the back and forth on this one, but lets look at a couple highlights.
First up, change of Page selection, without needing to go to the selector at all!
All you need to do is click on the down arrow, (or really anywhere in that member box) and you get a list of members available to you. This is not only super convenient as it is, but you can even just start typing to filter down the list even further.
And you might not have noticed, but the selector is a check box! something that not only can be shared on screen easily, but is intuitive to use.
This is just my first impressions and what I really wanted to share with everyone, but there is a lot more that has improved in forms 2.0, and I would encourage everyone to play with this new feature, and without exception, I would suggest enabling it for your users.
Until next time!

Dan - Another great post as always! Came here to remind myself how to configure the Smart View Macros and stumbled across a brand new post. Hope all is well!
